Jane broken Clock

The clockmaker explained.

“Yes, I think I can do that. It sounds easy and fun. Can you show me how to do it?” Jane asked.

“Of course. Come here and I’ll show you. It’s not hard, once you get the hang of it. Here, take this cloth and this brush. Start with this clock. It’s a cuckoo clock. It’s very dirty. You have to clean it well. Watch me,” the clockmaker said.

He showed Jane how to clean the clock. He brushed the dust and dirt from the clock. He wiped the clock with the cloth. He made sure the clock was clean and shiny. He handed the clock to Jane.

“Now, you try. Clean this clock. It’s a grandfather clock. It’s very old and rusty. You have to polish it well. Use this polish and this rag. Watch me,” he said.

He showed Jane how to polish the clock. He applied the polish to the clock. He rubbed the clock with the rag. He made sure the clock was smooth and glossy. He handed the clock to Jane.

“Now, you try. Polish this clock. It’s a digital clock. It’s very modern and sleek. You have to test it well. Use this stopwatch and this ruler. Watch me,” he said.

He showed Jane how to test the clock. He turned on the clock. He set the time. He started the stopwatch. He waited for a minute. He stopped the stopwatch. He measured the difference between the clock and the stopwatch. He made sure the clock was accurate and working. He handed the clock to Jane.

“Now, you try. Test this clock. It’s a wall clock. It’s your clock. It’s very special and precious. I’ve fixed it for you. It’s working again. You have to check it well. Use this stopwatch and this ruler. Watch me,” he said.

He showed Jane how to check the clock. He hung the clock on the wall. He wound the clock. He started the stopwatch. He waited for an hour. He stopped the stopwatch. He listened to the chime. He measured the difference between the clock and the stopwatch. He made sure the clock was accurate and working. He smiled at Jane.

“Now, you try. Check your clock. It’s your clock. It’s your grandfather’s clock. It’s your gift. It’s your treasure. It’s working again. You have to enjoy it well. Use your eyes and your ears. Watch and listen,” he said.

He handed Jane the stopwatch and the ruler. He stepped back and let her check the clock. Jane checked the clock. She saw the hands moving. She saw the pendulum swinging. She heard the ticking sound. She heard the chime. She felt a surge of joy. She hugged the clock.

“It’s working! It’s working! My clock is working again! Thank you, sir. Thank you so much. You’re the best. You’re a genius. You’re a miracle worker. You’ve made me so happy. You’ve fixed my clock. You’ve fixed my heart,” she said.

The clockmaker laughed. He was happy too. He had helped a young girl. He had fixed a broken clock. He had made a new friend. He hugged Jane back.

“You’re welcome, young lady. You’re welcome. You’re the best. You’re a star. You’re a wonder. You’ve made me so happy. You’ve helped me with my work. You’ve learned a lot. You’ve earned your clock. You’ve earned my respect,” he said.

They smiled at each other. They looked at the clock. They watched and listened. They enjoyed the clock. They enjoyed the moment. They enjoyed the friendship. They enjoyed the story.

The end.
