Swansboro high school out of school for 5 weeks 3/17/23

Swansboro high school will be out of school for 5 weeks due to children smoking slot of weed in the bathroom and getting high in school. Thry have to wait 5 weeks due to getting the police squad to bring in metal detectors and dogs throughout the school and guards in the bathroom all throughout the day. Principle Helen Gross says “It is very unacceptable that we need to spend our money on teens who smoke weed and decide to get high at school and not have an education but I’m an educator and I’m doing this bc I love these wonderful student they just make wrong decisions” and its completely understandable and smart as well. As of when the students come back they are required to wear clear book bags to make sure nobody brings drugs or alcohol into the school.
