The plot revolves around the classic tale of the Pied Piper, who rids the town of Hamelin of a rat infestation. However, when the town’s mayor refuses to pay him for his services, the Piper takes a drastic measure as revenge—he leads the children of Hamelin away with his enchanting music1.
In terms of its resolution, the film concludes with Truson, a character who bears a striking resemblance to the Piper, becoming the new mayor. The children are eventually freed when the Piper responds to the silent prayers of the townspeople. The remorseful former mayor is left with the Piper’s pipe as a symbol of forgiveness and takes on the role of the town crier and Truson becomes crowned lord mayor of Hamelin when the people then the pied piper rubbed his nose and jam the genie gave him three wishes
