Jack and the Beanstalk

Many years later, Jack grew old. He said to himself, “I have everything I ever wanted. I have gold, power, and fame. I have defeated the giants and saved the humans. I am the hero and the king. But why do I feel so empty and unhappy? Why do I have no friends or family? Why do I have no peace or joy? What have I done wrong?” He looked at the beanstalk, which still stood in his garden. He wondered what had happened to Magog, who had been his only friend. He wondered if he could ever make amends with him and his grandfather. He wondered if he could ever find forgiveness and redemption. He decided to climb the beanstalk one last time, and seek the truth.

He climbed the beanstalk and reached the land of clouds. He saw the castle, which was now in ruins. He entered the castle and saw the bodies of Magog and his grandfather, still lying where he had left them. He felt a pang of guilt and sorrow. He said, “I’m sorry, Magog. I’m sorry, old giant. I was wrong to betray you and kill you. You were not my enemies, but my friends. You were not evil, but good. You did not deserve to die, but to live. Please forgive me, if you can.” He heard a voice in his head, saying, “Fee-fi-fo-fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman. Be he alive, or be he dead, I’ll grind his bones to make my bread.” He realized that it was the voice of Magog’s grandfather, who had cursed him with his dying breath. He felt a cold hand grab his ankle. He looked down and saw Magog, who had come back to life. He said, “Jack, Jack, you came back. You came to say sorry. You came to be my friend again. Thank you, Jack. Thank you.” He smiled and hugged Jack. Jack felt a warm sensation in his heart. He said, “Magog, Magog, you’re alive. You’re alive and you forgive me. You forgive me and you’re my friend again. Thank you, Magog. Thank you.” He smiled and hugged Magog back. He felt a sharp pain in his chest. He looked down and saw a knife in his heart. He said, “Magog, Magog, what have you done? What have you done to me?” He saw a flash of anger and hatred in Magog’s eyes. He said, “Jack, Jack, you fool. You fool and you liar. You liar and you thief. You thief and you murderer. You murderer and you monster. I hate you, Jack. I hate you.” He spat and pushed Jack away. Jack fell to the ground, bleeding and dying. He said, “Magog, Magog, why? Why did you do this to me?” He saw a flash of sadness and pity in Magog’s eyes. He said, “Jack, Jack, I’m sorry. I’m sorry and I love you. You love me and you’re my friend. But you killed me and my grandfather. You killed us and you broke our hearts. You broke our hearts and you ruined our lives. You ruined our lives and you deserved to die. You deserved to die, Jack. You deserved to die.” He cried and turned away. Jack closed his eyes, aJack closed his eyes, and died.

The end.
