Jeffery the crab

He said, “I love you too, Alice. See you soon.”
He hung up and smiled. He said to himself, “This is the best day of my life. And it’s the beginning of a wonderful adventure.”

He drove to the harbor and parked his van. He saw a small boat with a sign that said, “Free boat rides for charity.” He walked towards the boat and saw a man in a black robe and a white collar. He was the vicar of the local church. He greeted Jeffery and said, “Hello, young man. Are you interested in a boat ride? It’s for a good cause. We’re raising money for the orphanage.”
Jeffery said, “Sure, why not? I love boats. How much is it?”
The vicar said, “It’s up to you. You can pay whatever you want. Every penny counts.”
Jeffery said, “Okay, I’ll give you twenty pounds. That’s all I have left.”
The vicar said, “That’s very generous of you. Thank you. Come on board. I’ll show you around.”
Jeffery gave him the money and got on the boat. The vicar started the engine and steered the boat out of the harbor. He said, “This is my boat. I call her Grace. She’s old, but she’s reliable. I’ve been taking people on boat rides for years. It’s a good way to spread the word of God and help the needy.”
Jeffery said, “That’s very noble of you. I admire your faith and your kindness.”
The vicar said, “Thank you. What’s your name, by the way?”
Jeffery said, “I’m Jeffery. I’m a delivery man. Well, I was a delivery man. Today is my last day.”
The vicar said, “Oh, really? Why is that? Are you retiring?”
Jeffery said, “No, not exactly. It’s a long story. You see, I used to be a crab. A talking crab. And then I found a magic pearl that turned me into a human for a day. And then I fell in love with a woman named Alice. And then the pearl decided to make me a human forever. And now I’m here, on your boat, talking to you.”
The vicar said, “. the boat turned into a policeman he said
