William Whittington

William Whittington

He died in 1358, when Richard was only four years old. It is not known how much he missed his father, but he probably inherited some of his father’s wealth and ambition.
He wore a suit of armor and a helmet, with a sword and a shield. He was a brave and loyal knight, who fought in the Hundred Years’ War and the Peasants’ Revolt. He was also a generous and pious man, who donated to the church and the poor. He was buried in the church of St. Michael Paternoster Royal, where his son Richard and his daughter-in-law Alice were also buried.
