Biggest birthday party
Tom pointed to the card that Julie had bought for Old Dick’s grandmother. “What does it say?” he asked.
Julie had just managed to buy a present and a card for the old lady, who was celebrating her 120th birthday. The next day, she went to see Old Dick, who was her friend and neighbour.
“How can she be your grandmother? You’re too old to have a grandmother,” Julie said, puzzled.
Old Dick smiled. “She’s known me ever since I was 30. I don’t remember anyone else,” he said. He looked at the card and read it aloud. “Happy birthday to the most amazing woman in the world. You are an inspiration to us all. We love you very much. From Julie and Tom. let’s go and say happy birthday to your grandmother That sounds like a great idea. 😊
Old Dick nodded and led Julie and Tom to his grandmother’s house. It was a small and cozy cottage with a garden full of flowers. They knocked on the door and heard a cheerful voice.
“Come in, come in! I’ve been expecting you!”
They entered the house and saw a woman sitting on a rocking chair. She had white hair and wrinkled skin, but her eyes sparkled with life. She wore a pink dress and a pearl necklace. She smiled and hugged them one by one.
“Hello, my dears. I’m so happy to see you. Thank you for the lovely card and the present. You are so kind and thoughtful.”
She opened the present and gasped. It was a photo album with pictures of her and Old Dick throughout the years. There were photos of them as children, as teenagers, as adults, and as seniors. There were photos of them in different places, doing different things, and having fun. There were photos of them with their friends, their families, and their pets. There were photos of them in happy times and sad times, in good times and bad times. There were photos of them in love.
“Oh, this is wonderful. This is the best gift I ever received. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
She kissed the album and hugged Old Dick. He hugged her back and whispered in her ear.
“Happy birthday, my darling. You are the most amazing woman in the world. You are an inspiration to us all. I love you very much.”
She smiled and whispered back.
“I love you too, my sweet. You are the best thing that ever happened to me. You are my soulmate, my partner, my friend. You are my everything.”
Julie and Tom watched them with awe and admiration. They felt a warm and fuzzy feeling in their hearts. They realized that they were witnessing a true and everlasting love. A love that had survived for a century. A love that was stronger than time. A love that was bigger than life. Just then Julie’s great uncle Alan came up smiling
