alfie

Alfie was very excited to go to Bernard’s birthday party. He had never been to his friend’s house before, and he wondered what it would be like. He put on his favourite blue jumper and his red boots, and packed his present for Bernard in his backpack. It was a book about dinosaurs, because Bernard loved dinosaurs.

Mum walked Alfie to Bernard’s house, and told him to have fun. She said she and Annie Rose would go to the park and come back to pick him up later. Alfie waved goodbye to them, and knocked on the door. Bernard’s mum opened it, and smiled at Alfie. She said he was the first guest to arrive, and invited him in.

Alfie followed Bernard’s mum to the living room, where he saw a big table covered with a colourful cloth. There were plates, cups, napkins, and cutlery, all with dinosaur pictures on them. There was also a big cake in the shape of a tyrannosaurus rex, with candles on its back. Alfie thought it looked amazing.

Bernard’s mum told Alfie to put his present on a pile of gifts on the sofa, and then asked him if he wanted to play with Bernard in his bedroom. Alfie said yes, and ran upstairs to find his friend. He opened the door to Bernard’s room, and gasped. It was like a museum of dinosaurs. There were posters, models, books, puzzles, and toys, all about dinosaurs. Alfie saw Bernard sitting on his bed, holding a stuffed triceratops.

“Hi, Alfie!” Bernard said. “I’m so glad you came. Do you want to see my dinosaur collection?”

“Yes, please!” Alfie said. He put his backpack on the floor, and joined Bernard on the bed. Bernard showed him his dinosaur collection, and told him the names and facts about each one. Alfie listened with interest, and asked questions. He learned a lot of new things about dinosaurs.

They played with the dinosaurs for a while, and then Bernard’s mum called them downstairs. She said the other guests had arrived, and it was time for the party games. Alfie and Bernard ran downstairs, and joined the other children in the living room. There were six of them, including Alfie and Bernard. They all wore party hats with dinosaur horns on them.

Bernard’s mum led them to the garden, where she had set up some games for them. There was a dinosaur egg hunt, where they had to find plastic eggs hidden in the bushes and flowers. There was a pin the tail on the dinosaur game, where they had to blindfold themselves and stick a paper tail on a poster of a dinosaur. There was a dinosaur quiz, where they had to answer questions about dinosaurs. And there was a dinosaur race, where they had to run around the garden pretending to be dinosaurs.

Alfie had a lot of fun playing the games. He found four eggs in the egg hunt, and got a chocolate coin for each one. He pinned the tail on the dinosaur’s nose, and everyone laughed. He answered three questions correctly in the quiz, and got a sticker for each one. And he ran as fast as he could in the race, roaring like a dinosaur.

After the games, they went back to the living room, where Bernard’s mum served them the cake and some juice. They sang happy birthday to Bernard, and watched him blow out the candles. Then they ate the cake, which was delicious. Alfie thought it was the best cake he had ever tasted.

Then it was time for Bernard to open his presents. He thanked everyone for their gifts, and opened them one by one. He got a dinosaur puzzle, a dinosaur hat, a dinosaur book, a dinosaur shirt, a dinosaur watch, and a dinosaur game. He was very happy with all of them, but he liked Alfie’s present the best. He said it was the coolest dinosaur book he had ever seen, and hugged Alfie.

They played with the presents for a while, and then Bernard’s mum said it was time to go home. She gave each child a party bag, which had a dinosaur toy, a dinosaur sticker, a dinosaur balloon, and a dinosaur lollipop. Alfie thanked Bernard and his mum for the party, and said goodbye to them. He put his party bag in his backpack, and waited for his mum to pick him up. she walked there just like she did when she brought him

Mum arrived soon, with Annie Rose in the car. She asked Alfie how the party was, and he told her everything. He showed her his party bag, and gave her a piece of cake that Bernard’s mum had wrapped for him. He said he had a great time, and that Bernard was his best friend. Mum smiled, and said she was glad he enjoyed himself. She drove him home, and Alfie fell asleep in the car, dreaming of dinosaurs
