Trouble in store

Norman (played by Norman Wisdom): As you mentioned, Norman is a clumsy and naive stock clerk who dreams of becoming a window dresser. He’s in love with Sally, a salesgirl in the store. Despite his frequent mishaps, Norman’s kind-hearted and humorous nature makes him a lovable character.

Sally Wilson (played by Lana Morris): Sally is the object of Norman’s affection and works as a salesgirl in the store. She’s friendly and helpful, and she becomes suspicious of Peggy Drew and her boyfriend Gerald’s plot to rob the store. Sally is kidnapped by them, but Norman comes to her rescue.

Peggy Drew (played by Moira Lister): Peggy is the personnel manager of the store and the main antagonist. She flirts with Mr. Freeman while secretly plotting with her boyfriend Gerald to rob the store. She tries to undermine Norman’s chances with Sally and his ambition to become a window dresser.

Gerald (played by Derek Bond): Gerald is Peggy’s boyfriend and accomplice in the robbery plot. He pretends to be interested in Sally to gain information about the store’s security system and tries to eliminate Norman, who discovers their plan.

Miss Bacon (played by Margaret Rutherford): Miss Bacon is an eccentric shoplifter who steals items from the store and befriends Norman. She appears at the beginning and end of the film, adding a comedic touch to her scenes.

Freeman (played by Jerry Desmonde): Freeman is the director of the store who initially doesn’t think highly of Norman and is more focused on Peggy Drew. However, Norman’s actions eventually lead to Freeman recognizing his value.
