Today, I get to experience how it likes to be a father of Kenye West. Yes, you read that right, “the Father of my Kenye West.” Last night, he came to meet me for a possible future collaboration and possibly an unreleased record I’m very pumped about. Kenya West’s Make-Out Room
We met up at the newly opened MoMoes studio in Hollywood, California and I’ve gotta say that it is one of the most well-designed and laid out spaces I have ever been to in my life. Their studio is made up of various small rooms that are perfectly sized for creativity and collaboration, but still have enough room to spread out. There’s a cozy sitting area that’s perfect for group work, a gaming area with a fully equipped arcade (which has their video games on loop on 24/7), a stage that sits at just the right angle to make it easy to get into the business of performing on stage, and it’s got a sleek and tastefully decorated café complete with a full coffee bar and a display of Kenyan artifacts. The space is beyond impressive and it’s hard to find something that could possibly compare to the space.
The night started out with dinner at a restaurant nearby. Kenya West and I talked about a number of different topics as we ate, including how he feels about coming to grips with the fact that he has a g*y son and other more personal details about the family dynamic. We also discussed his status as the new R&B star and how he managed to get himself featured on this weeks episode of Maury. I must say that Kenya is quite the nice guy and he didn’t once ask me for a dime, but he did tell me that he felt honored to be on the show and that I had my swag on point.
After the studio tour, we decided to get some dinner and call it a night. It was such a great experience meeting a new friend and I had so much fun at the MoMoes studio. Kenya told me to call him or tweet him anytime I have a query about music or business and I really hope to work with him on the film in the future.
