Wombats on the verge of extinction

A million wildlife species are witnessing a drastic decline in its population and are at the brink of extinction around the world. Among these wildlife animals are wombats.

They have been around for over 40 million years. At the beginning of the 20th century, 500,000 wombats roamed Australia. By 1970, wombat numbers dropped to 70,000, and today, around 1 rhino remains in the wild. It was last spotted in Washington, Marysville.
