Local CT Railfan Arrested in New Haven

Today, in Connecticut 12-year-old railfan Jonah Tree, a local “railfan” in New Haven was arrested for using a tripod on a Metro-North Railroad platform. The railfanning guide provided by the MTA clearly states that any railroad photography or videographer that is caught using a tripod on an active MTA owned or operated platform will be arrested by the court of law. Jonah’s family argues that; “he is just a child, and he shouldn’t have to be arrested for having a tripod on a railroad platform”(Hartford Courant). The MTA argues against the family’s claim by Jonah should have read the complete article on the MTA website about using a tripod for photography or videography purposes on an MTA platform.
