Lightning Strikes Teamer Field

Two years from today marks the 30th anniversary of the night lightning struck Conestoga High School’s Teamer Field.

In 1990 a figurative bolt of lightning struck the back of a lacrosse goal in overtime of a Pennsylvania boys’ lacrosse game between Conestoga and Springfield HS, earning Conestoga its second consecutive undefeated Central League title. This accomplishment has yet to be duplicated in the programs long and successful history.

To celebrate this achievement Conestoga will be having members from the 1989 and 1990 teams take the field at halftime of a game to be determined on May 18th.

Giving a speech during that ceremony will be Brent Meyer (class of 1990), who scored the famous goal that spurred local newspapers to come up with the phrase “Lightning Strikes Teamer Field”, and display that headline and accompanying story on the front page.

Details of the event will be posted as they become concrete.
