The Israeli government has accused the Egyptian military of “preparing for invasion,” citing new satellite images which show increasing troops movement near the Gaza strip.

The satellite images show armored equipment and APC’s moving into “combat positions,” and that artillery on an airfield near Arish had been placed in combat readiness.

The Israeli armed forces announced that it is at a heightened level of awareness and takes all possible incursions onto Israeli territory seriously. The Israeli government also called for calm amongst the public.
“The Israeli military is fully ready to defend itself from all agression.”

The news comes just days after the Israeli military shot down an Egyptian “combat drone” near Tel Aviv. The Israeli military has claimed for weeks that the Egyptian military, with support from the Arab League has decided to seek military action against Israel after it had taken the town of Tyre in its war with Lebanon in March.

The Egyptian government along with the Arab League have been ferment in their denial. The Egyptian government spokesperson remarked: “The claims made by the Israeli military are untrue. The Egyptian military is simply conducting military drills to demostrate its willingness to defend itself against Israeli agression.”
