Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 3 announced as the price for Battle for Neighborville continues to sink

In a press conference this morning, Andrew Wilson, Chief Executive Officer of Electronic Arts (EA), announced a sequel to the critically acclaimed Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2. “We wanted to steer in a different direction following feedback from Battle for Neighborville” Wilson stated.
Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville was released on September 9th, 2019 as a sort of spinoff on the Garden Warfare series. Battle for Neighborville was criticized at launch for requiring an internet connection to play, and removing acclaimed features from Garden Warfare 2, released in 2014. Players that did not have an internet connection could still experience many of the offline modes featured in Garden Warfare 2.
The announcement was reaffirmed on the EA twitter account shortly after the announcement. Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 3 will be developed by PopCap Games, a company that EA bought in July of 2011. Due to this being an announcement, and EA’s release track record, we can expect to see it released somewhere in the next one to two years.
