The Canadian Lottery Corporation (CLC) has announced the winner of a July 16, 2021 $8.9 million jackpot that had not been claimed. In an unusual move by the CLC the winner was named in hopes of finding them before the ‘Claim of Winnings’ expires on March 3rd.
The winning ticket 2,15,19,31,33,39 was purchased on July 14, 2021 by Alberta resident, Sean Jon Fox. The CLC used reverse financial tracking to find the winner.
Manuk Barbar, owner/operator of Wink convenience store on 69th Avenue in Calgary, Alberta provided the CLC with video surveillance footage of the moment the ticket was purchased by Mr. Fox. “He was a regular here. He came in for lotto tickets and 2 packs of cigarettes every few days”, Mr Barbar told AP. “He stood out because he was a tall like giant and also Australian accent. He stopped coming to my store in November, I thought maybe he died, I don’t know”.
