On 1/20/2022 Yakup Atar, Husband of Selda Atar and father of Selin Atar and Samet Atar has committed a series of murders followed by a suicide from 11:17 AM EST to 11:29 AM EST. All victims have suffered a fatal blow to the head, causing major brain damage and intense skull trauma. The murder weapon has been reported to be a 2 gauge shotgun, potentially used for decorational purposes before the incident. The current cause of this murder-suicide is unknown.
At the time of 11:17 AM EST, Elena Jones, neighbour of the family wakes up to a loud bang, as she described to be “What you would hear if a bowling ball was falling for 50 meters and hit a solid ground after the fall.” at roughly 11:29 AM EST, 12 minutes after the sound she described, she ends up calling her neighbours, which at the time were Peter Hoekstra and the Atar family. “I was shocked about what happened, because maybe they dropped something, it could be they fell off the stairs.” She called the Atar family, but after not receiving any answers she thought that she imagined it. “Right after this thought I heard another bang, followed by two more, which was when I decided to call the cops.”
At 11:35, through forceful entry the cops found the family of 3 which exists of Yakup Atar, Selda Atar and Samet Atar dead on the floor. Upon further investigation on the scene another corpse, beloning to Selin Atar. Within autopsy and with the use of fingerprints, it is most probable that Selin Atar was shot in the basement first (reason unknown) and shortly after he shot the remaining parts of the Atar family before committing a suicide at the murder scene.
The current cause of the series of events is unknown, and is still being investigated.
