After 5 years with DASD, Dr. Emilie Lonardi, PhD, has decided to move from DASD in Chester County (Philadelphia), to Butler County (Pittsburgh). Replacing her is Dr. Cody Jack Cusatis, EdD, BCBA.
Dr. Cusatis started at DASD as Downingtown Middle School’s Life Skills support teacher in 2015-2018. In 2018, Dr. Cusatis earned his Doctarate of Education and became the Principal of Downingtown STEM Academy, a high-ranked STEM academy in the nation. He served as the principal until the Quarantine of 2019.
In 2019, he became the Special Education Director, as well as the Transportation Director for Coatesville ASD. In 2020, he returned to DASD as Marsh Creek 6th Grade Center’s Vice Principal.
Replacing Dr. Cusatis as Marsh Creek’s VP, is Dr. James “Tucker” T. Birkhead, EdD in January 2023. Until then, the acting Vice Principal is P. Gavin Donnelly, BCBA.
Dr. Lonardi’s last day in June 30, 2022. Dr. Cusatis will begin his exciting career as DASD’s new Superintendent on July 1, 2022.
