St. Louis Filmmaker Sued by Netherrealm for 2.3 million dollars for “RUMBLE” Web Series

Local filmmaker Kevin L. Coffman is being sued from video game company Netherrealm Studios for fan-made web series “RUMBLE” based on Midway Games’ Ready 2 Rumble Boxing series. The series, previously owned by Midway Games was acquired by Netherrealm Studios in 2002 after Midway Games closed down due to bankruptcy. The studio is notable for keeping a lockdown on their properties. “I still can’t believe this is happening” Coffman said. “I’m doing this for fun and they’re coming at me like they think I have that kind of money? Why should I be punished for something I’m doing that’s a tribute to that game? I’m making no money off it. I’m not claiming it as my own. They’re just screwing me over. I won’t be able to play Ready 2 Rumble for a long-ass time”. This was not all Coffman had to say. In defense, Coffman cited other local filmmakers he says have done the same thing. “Joshua Gray, Spiderverse. David Kirkman, Static. Why are they not getting the heat? If they aren’t and I am they should. They are no better than I am. My production doesn’t hardly touch what they do and they get off for this? That’s wrong. I hope they both get sued and broke.” Netherrealm Studios Representative Simone Feldon offered a statement about the rebuttal from Coffman. “Spider-Man, not our property. Static, not our property. Ready 2 Rumble Boxing is our property and we work very hard to stress the sole ownership of that property.” Coffman is worried he is in this for the long haul, possibly the rest of his life. “All I wanted was to make a tribute. Now, I’ll be paying out my a** for it.” He claims the rest of the cast is equally as responsible as he is. “Sue them too! They’re a part of it. If they wanna get some money, sue us. Close some of our businesses. Take it. But they are loyal to this series whether they feel they should be sued or not. They made that choice signing up for this. If I go down, these guys are f*cking going down with me whether they like it or not”.

Coffman gave a list of St. Louis Actors who were a major part of the web series for Netherreal to possibly contact:

Greg Gibson
Stephen McIntosh
Shaun Scott
Alexis Austriaco
Kurt Aubuchon
David Shah
Daniel May
Lonnie Craig
Brian Davis
Kyle A. Lee
Chris O’Brien
Joel Antony
Jeff Massie

Netherrealm has said they plan to start contacting these people soon. Coffman issued one final statement he wanted his actors to know before walking out. “You guys should really read the fine print. Because you never know when someone’s gonna sue you, fire you, or make a fake news article just to give you shit ;)”

Coffman went on record to say he hoped his cast members had a good sense of humor.
