Red Screaming Man Speaks Out

The face on the cover of ‘In the Court of Crimson King’ by late-60’s rock band King Crimson finally speaks out after more than 50 years of silence. “Stop calling me that,” says Red Screamy Man, the face of the cult-classic album. The album has received countless reissues, seeing skyrocketing sales in vinyl pressings.

Tom, owner of Lovell’s Records in Whittier, California says, “I don’t know why they call him that. We never called him that when the album came out and we never call him that now. I never liked that album and generations of kids continuing to buy it makes me dislike it even more.” Interestingly, the “King Crimson” section at Lovell’s Records has been divided by other releases and a divider titled “Red Screamy Man”. There are no records for sale in the “King Crimson section; however, there are always Red Screamy Man pressings for sale in the “Red Screamy Man” section.

Channel46 News reached out to Moonshine Records for a comment but has yet to speak out on the issue.
