‘Stranger Things’ actor Charlie Heaton, 27 found dead in his apartment on Wednesday

The New York City coroner has confirmed that Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton’s death earlier this month was caused by being DWI, and crashing.

The office released its findings on Wednesday, confirming the cause of death that Heaton’s family had announced just days after the 27-year-old actor died on March 30th.

Heaton died from driving while under intoxication by alcohol, the coroner’s office determined after additional testing following an autopsy on April 1st, according to the report.

“The manner of death was certified as unnatural,” the report said.

A family spokesperson released a statement on March 30th saying that Heaton’s “tragic passing was due to crashing, and was declared unresponsive at the scene. When brought to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, the doctors could not revive him.”

A funeral is expected to take place in May.
