Avani recently in an interview confirmed that she is “excited as well as nervous” to play Kate Sharma in season 2 of Bridgerton. When the interviewer asked how she managed to get the role she replied with “Me and Seren auditioned at the same time without knowing. I rang Seren and told her I auditioned and then she told me that she had too which was crazy. Seren then got the star as Daphne which was brilliant. The casting team then rang me up saying that they don’t want to cast me as an extra however they don’t have a suitable character for me yet in season 1 but to wait as a character may pop up later on in the show or if they do a second series. Season 1 was filmed in 2019 so I think it was just before lockdown I got asked if I could audition again as a new character in season 2 as ‘Kate Sharma’ as they were looking for a POC. I was like of course, so I went in did my audition I was casted literally the next day which was unreal and I was bursting with excitement and ringing everyone. However then Covid happened so we couldn’t film in the summer of 2020 like planned, however with restrictions easing we have been able to start shooting some scenes and we are all hoping to be filming the big scenes in April all going well with everything. I have done a reading with Jonathan Bailey who plays Anthony in the show and it went amazingly as we clicked so well. So now we are all just playing a waiting game until we find out more! Everyone has been so supportive sending me messages and fan mail it’s been incredible”
So there we go, it is definitely confirmed that the singer is going to be taking a different career path at the moment whilst filming Bridgerton. We are all sure Seren will be giving her tips along the way and we look forward to seeing them both on screen! We wish the best of luck to Avani also.
