On Sunday morning, around 11:25 A.M, a 911 call was made by a staff member at a local hotel chain saying “after entering the room they found a woman non responsive and covered in stab wounds.” Authorities rushed to the scene where they found a blood soaked hotel room and declared the victim dead upon arrival. The victim of this horrific crime has now been identified as 29 year old, Amanda Guida, of Mount Sinai. According to police Amanda had been staying at the hotel since October while looking for a new apartment. the victim would need an updated room key every two days, on the fourth day and employee who had gotten close with Amanda during her stay found it strange that she had not seen or spoke to Amanda for three days and if left her room would have had to get a new key to get back into her room. Worried the employee went and knocked repeatedly on the door before ultimately entering the room to find Amanda Guida’s body on the floor in front the door in what the employee described as, “… it looked like she had attempted to crawl to the door, probably after the suspect had attacked her and left, she was trying to get help by getting out the door and unfortunately didn’t make it. It breaks my heart, she was such a sweet girl with a big heart and very polite. I considered her a friend and I’m deeply horrified at was happen to her.” Officials have secured video surveillance from the hallway and room doors from the date and approximate time the incident occurred. They have not yet released details on the suspect, and said “Although we don’t yet have a suspect in custody we do have two main suspects. We ask that you give the family and the police proper time to process this tragedy.”
Amanda Guida, 29, is survived by her parents Michael and Caroleann Guida. As well as sister, Nicole Guida, and beloved nephew Michael. Family and friends are deeply disturbed and saddened by what has happened to Amanda. Her mother described her as a woman who has faced many personal challenges but that never affected how loving her heart was. The family says the want justice for their daughter and will not stop until whoever did this is found and will spend the rest of their life rotting in jail.
