28 dead, 16 injured in Times Square Shooting

At 6:36 EST, a musical event hosted by the popular band “The Weeknd” was interrupted by suspicious activity in a building of the East Side of 352 Resey Street. NYPD was called to check in the suspicious activity, reports of shots fired were heard but no further action was taken as the police officers, Gordon Hamsey and Frederick Johnston dismissed it as a firecracker. At 6:38, more reports of shots fired were called by the 911 line in the Manhattan Prencinct 29th, 3 units were sent to investigate suspicious activity along with a long rifle unit, observing nothing but a cheerful crowd along the skylines. At 6:43, an EMS was called due to a bloody injury, most likely by a shotgun wound and the injured person was taken to the Northwestern Emergency Department, and by 6:47, more reports of shots fired were called through the 911 operator. Even though the crowd of 1,000 people were cheering along the band, the crowd quickly went into chaos when the gunman, now identified as Collins Mark by the New York Medical Examiner, begin loading and shooting upon the crowd for 13 continuous minutes, leaving 28 dead and 16 injured until an NYPD Emergency Response Team and 3 SWAT units headed up into the building and confronted the shooter, however the shooter shot 3 NYPD ERT units and was killed by SWAT Chief Thomas Hank, midlist the shooting, NYPD patrol officers attempted to flee the crowd to safety, 3 patrol officers were killed, 8 were injured in the meantime.
3 of the victims, age of 6 and 8 are currently being treated at the Children’s Emergency Department Intensive Care Unit,
A United States Representative, unknown, is currently being treated at the John F Kennedy Trauma center of New York,
5 youth male and female teenagers, 14, 16, 18, and 12 were are killed throughout the 13 minutes and are currently being held in the New York Medical Examiner’s office, pending verification of identities.
All other individuals have either been unidentified or is undergoing medical treatment in a trauma center hospital.
Families or relatated persons are advised to contact the NYPD if they have been planning to enter Time Square or partook in an event near the area and has not made contact with their relatives or friends.
