Digital Extremes announces retirement

Digital Extremes is a Canadian video game developer founded in 1993 by James Schmalz. They are best known for creating Warframe, a free-to-play cooperative online action game, and are retiring by July of 2021. Lead directors of Warframe Steve Sinclair and Scott McGregor have made a thank you letter in response to their retirement. “We would like to thank our wonderful community for being with us for over 7 years but, all things must come to an end. We have decided to retire because of the pressure put on us during our development for Warframe, we are human and we so very much try our best to make you all happy but we don’t want to carry all of this pressure and we believe we should quit due to the words of our community. This doesn’t sound like a very good options but everyone at Digital Extremes had a talk and we came to this agreement. Warframe servers will still be up after July but we plan to shut down around 2025 to give the community more time to hold on to this game longer, thank you for being the best community out there.” also one more thing….
