Warrant out for local loveland teen’s arrest after hit and run

LOVELAND β€” A Loveland teen is under investigation for an alleged hit and run that sent one child victim to the hospital Saturday night.

Around 9:00 p.m., Loveland police and other emergency responders, were dispatched to the parking lot of the Loveland downtown area regarding a hit and run crash resulting in the injury of a pedestrian, according to a Loveland police press release.

While the crash was still under investigation, officers located gray sedan being operated near the entrance of a local park. The sedan matched the description of the vehicle allegedly involved in the crash, according to police.

As a result of the investigation which followed, the operator of the sedan, identified as Jakob Higgins, 18, of Loveland, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in personal injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (the vehicle), and reckless operation of a motor vehicle. A warrant is currently out for his arrest.

The 9-year-old female victim who was struck by the vehicle, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.The crash is currently under investigation by members of the Loveland Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit.
