A teacher at Verdon College is set to be held in the Invercargill High Court on serious charges towards a 13 year old boy student.
Verdon College principal, Jarlath Kelly has declined to comment on the situation.
Police have been investigating Verdon College for two weeks undercover.
The Ministry of Education commented on the situation, “Verdon College is a incredibly good High School in Invercargill, but the situation that is currently on-going has worsened. Students at Verdon College will be temporarily held at home for two weeks.”
