On 3rd August, 2020, Kayley was declared a missing person after her friends say she never came back up after been pushed in the lake by one of the friends, At Kilmarnock kay park. The search had begun at 2:30 pm, An hour after she was reported missing, Friends told investigators that Logan and Kayley were arguing. Logan had pushed Kayley in lake and she disappeared underwater.
The Investigators suspended the search and rescue operation that evening and resumed again the following day. The park was closed to the public, with dive teams from across the region taking part in the search. On 4th August, the police department confirmed to Public that Kayley was presumed dead and that rescue efforts would now shift to recovery efforts. lack of evidence and Friends telling officers that they saw her disappear underwater led them to change the search to recovery. On 5th August the number of divers involved was cut from around 40 to around 20. The police department explained that the visibility was so poor it was more probable Kayley would be found by using sonar devices.As well as dive teams and sonar, sniffer dogs were taken out on the lake.
On 6th and 7th August, Kayley’s family and Friends, They restated that they were searching on land as well as in the lake. On 6th August, the office had announced that other counties and a private contractor were assisting with the search.
On 7th August, it was announced that a body had been found floating in Kay Park lake by divers when the search resumed in the morning, at around 9:30 am the body was confirmed to be Kayley at a press conference held later that day. She was officially declared dead on 7th August.
