Suicide Awareness

Suicide and depression has been a problem all around the world for a while now. When it happens to someone you know it hurts so much more when it happens to friends and family. A mother named Isel Sanchez came to our station today to report something she thought needs to be known.

Isel’s daughter 11 year old daughter, Michelle Salazar, has committed suicide earlier this week and this is what she had to say:

“Suicide is a real problem in this world and it is something we need to fix. The sad thing about depression is that sometimes no one can tell if you are depressed or not. So it can feel like you have no one to turn which isn’t a nice feeling. I think that parents should be making sure that their children love themselves and make sure that their children can trust them because if u don’t your children may have the same ending as millions of other kids around the world. And kids shouldn’t be insulting people in their school or bringing people down because thats how all this starts.”

Michelle’s friends say that she always seemed down on her appearance, body, and basically everything about herself (a photo of her is at the top of the article) and sometimes she was seen acting depressed about her life which was definitely a sign
