New mask requirement for horses, pets

There is preliminary research suggesting the need for masking animals to protect community spread of corona virus. Although pet-size masks are currently difficult to obtain, masks can be constructed from cloth products found in every home. For example, cloth napkins or wash cloths can be successfully folded and cut to fit cats and small dogs. Kitchen towels are needed for larger dogs or obese cats with round faces. Horses require larger items, such as table cloths or kitchen towels stitched together.
When asked if pet owners would provide such a service to the community, Mayor Laffnow stated, “I may be overly optimistic, but animal lovers have always been community minded. For example, there is no dog owner that I know that doesn’t carefully carry bags and scoop up after their dog. So, I can’t imagine that pet lovers won’t quickly respond to this health crisis by making masks for their beloved pets.”
