On 30th July 5pm KST, famous Kpop star Lee Ji Eun, better known as IU was found dead in her apartment.
Kpop star IU, aged 26, died in her house around 5pm KST. She was found with her neck tied with a rope, with a suicide letter beside her. IU’s family has decided to release the letter, which wrote the below:
“Hello everyone, this is IU. I know you did not want me to do this.
I have been suffering with bullimia, depression and anorexia since 2014, which is something I have regretfully hidden for 6 years. I have tried to end it a few times before, but I was too busy with concerts and events, which made me worried that others would be blamed for what happened to me. I have chosen today to leave, for I have planned my afters and I am sure I will do this. I had harmed myself several times before, which only made me want to stop this faster. I had also been hiding a truth from public for 10 years. Now I am gone I can safely tell you, for I would be asleep forever when you found out. I was Min Hye Lin. I was Min Hye Lin of Midnight, which debuted 18 years ago. I was bashed for my ugly looks, so I ran away from the dorm late at night, causing people to think that Hyelin was kidnapped. I got plastic surgery, then joined my new entertainment with my fake name Jieun. I hid this from everyone I knew. I regretted this for 10 years, which caused me to suicide. I know this is not enough explanation for uaenas but this is all. Goodbye.”
Before her death, she posted a selfie saying “Thanks for uaena’s love all these years. I’m thankful for uaenas who led me to what I am today. Goodbye” Fans were immediately alarmed by the serious message, and what was more scary was that in the background, a rope was tied to the ceiling.
